Hunting International Achieves the Near Impossible

Hunting International in Fryeburg, ME develops and manufactures specialty alloy products, including parts for the aerospace, power generation, and oil and gas industries.

Despite their expertise the team struggled with scheduling inefficiencies, deliveries were consistently late by as much as 60 to 75 days on average – the cause? – working on the wrong jobs at the wrong time leading to bottlenecks and frustration.

By implementing Protected Flow Manufacturing (PFM) from LillyWorks with it’s real-time priorities and future looking Predictor, it has helped Hunting reduce late orders by 59% and boosted profitability by 24%.

According to Adam Grace, General Manager, Hunting International can now predict delivery dates accurately, something they thought was nearly impossible before. Adam states that since implementing Protected Flow Manufacturing (PFM), it has brought discipline and clarity to their operations.

“This powerful tool helps us manage disruption and ensure we meet customer deadlines, even when the unexpected happens.” states Scott Brown, Operations Manager. “We had a scheduling tool, but it didn’t give us the certainly we needed about delivery dates. It was a constant scramble to manage priorities.

According to Adam Grace, Operations Manager, the results have been welcomed. “On-time delivery has a far-reaching impact on everything. It reduces costs, improves customer satisfaction and strengthens our reputation as a reliable supplier.”

Thanks to PFM, Hunting International is now able to provide their clients with a ship date they are confident they will be able to deliver within a 24-hour window of the date quoted, setting the stage for their continued success.
