About the Artist
Carol Sanchioni
Born and raised in Darien, Connecticut, Carol Sanchioni Laughner knew at an early age that she was destined to be an artist. After high school, Carol attended Parsons School of Design and graduated in 1980 from Parsons with a BFA in illustration. During her years at Parsons she mastered the process of reduction block printing (wood and linoleum) which she continues to do today. She also prefers scratchboard as a medium, which has a "woodcut-like" appeal.
After graduating from Parsons, Carol relocated from Connecticut to New Hampshire. She continued her studies in Commercial Art at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences and did graduate work on an M Ed in Art Therapy/Counseling at Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH, with a specialization in Art Therapy. Carol has taught art to children both at the Sharon Arts Center in Sharon, NH and at the Stephenson Memorial Library in Greenfield, NH.
During her residence in New Hampshire, Carol has held many different careers - one as an art director with a small advertising agency in Francestown where she designed brochures, advertisements, direct mail pieces, and corporate identity packages. She also held a Marketing Manager position with BYTE magazine in Peterborough, NH where she oversaw the trade show and promotional efforts.
She has done many privately commissioned illustrations. She illustrated a book "The Feline Muse," published by Golden Quill Press, and has done promotional illustration for Desktop Engineering magazine. She has done illustrations for several of the magazines published by Cobblestone, a publisher of children's books, as well as miscellaneous editorial illustration and in-house designs for McGraw-Hill. She has a greeting card business, and sells her designs through various channels.
Carol and her husband, Vinoy (also an artist) live with their dachshund, Lilly, in Greenfield.
